Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
